Brooks Law Partners Helps Secure $26 Million Settlement in Wrongful Death Case
Brooks Law Partners was honored to play a critical role in securing a $26 million policy-limits settlement for the family of a young mother and her unborn child, who were tragically killed in a shooting at a Georgia apartment complex. Our firm was brought into the case to represent additional family members after a conflict of interest arose for the firms originally handling the matter.
Despite representing distinct clients, we worked closely and collaboratively with the other law firms involved, including Beasley Allen and Stokes & Kopitsky, to ensure that every voice in the victims’ family was represented, and justice could be pursued as fully and effectively as possible.
This tragic case spanned years of complex litigation and intense insurance disputes, culminating in a confidential settlement agreement that honored the full value of all applicable policies. The case was set for a specially scheduled trial before the parties reached resolution.
The litigation involved extensive discovery, including over 2,000 pages of deposition testimony from 16 witnesses. The details shared throughout the process painted a troubling picture of persistent community safety concerns that had not been addressed prior to the fatal incident.
Though the names of the parties remain confidential, this result represents a powerful outcome achieved through strategic coordination and shared dedication across legal teams.
“The victim’s family was so brave throughout this entire process, given they had to bear this enormous loss while also fighting for justice at the same time. We are all so proud of them,” said Natanya Brooks.
In this matter, our role was clear: to protect the interests of our clients and support a unified effort toward justice. We continue to work alongside other trusted trial teams when collaboration can make a difference.
